Anaesthesia for Orthopaedic and Ophthalmic Surgeries
Dr Airey graduated from the University of Queensland Medical School and then went on to work at the Princess Alexandra Hospital prior to commencing his post-graduate training in Anaesthesia and Intensive Care. He furthered his training at the Hammersmith Hospital in London and the Royal Victoria Infirmary at Newcastle upon Tyne. Upon returning to Brisbane he became a staff anaesthetist and later Director of Intensive Care at the Mater Adult Hospital.
When Dr Airey entered private practice in anaesthesia, he also established with a colleague the first comprehensive Intensive Care Service in Brisbane Private Hospitals. He retired from Intensive Care in 2002 to concentrate on anaesthesia as a member of Wickham Terrace Anaesthesia.
In 2017, Dr Airey was invited back to Mater Health Services as Director of Anaesthesia. In March 2018, his role was expanded to Director of Acute Care Services, encompassing Anaesthesia, Emergency Medicine and Intensive Care.

Dr Airey enjoys boating and choral performance in his spare time.
