BACKGROUND

Dr Forrest completed her postgraduate medical degree at Griffith University in 2015 and graduated with the University Medal. She began anaesthetic speciality training in 2018 on the Gold Coast, having completed a Master of Medicine in Critical Care and working in the intensive care unit. Before medicine, she completed a Biomedical Science and Arts degree, studying Mandarin at the University of Queensland.

In 2023, Dr Forrest was awarded Fellowship of the Australian and New Zealand College of Anaesthetists (FANZCA). She completed an anaesthetic fellowship at Gold Coast University Hospital and went on to complete a fellowship in cardiac anaesthesia and critical care at St. Michael’s Hospital in Toronto, Canada. Dr Forrest has a diplomate in Advanced Perioperative Transoesophageal Echocardiography from the National Board of Echocardiography (NBE) and has obtained a Fellowship of the American Society of Echocardiography (FASE). Currently, she serves on the intraoperative committee of the Echocardiography Society of Australia and New Zealand (ESANZ).

She now works as a Staff Specialist at the Princess Alexandra Hospital, as well as several hospitals throughout Brisbane in her private practice. She was awarded an ANZCA Research Grant to study cell salvage blood quality in conjunction with Griffith University.

Dr Forrest has an interest in all anaesthesia specialities, including cardiothoracic surgery and orthopaedics. She is a firm advocate of safe patient centred perioperative care.

OTHER INTERESTS
Outside of medicine, Dr Forrest enjoys scuba diving, travelling, reformer Pilates and cycling.
