SPECIAL INTERESTS IN ANAESTHESIA
Cardio-thoracic Anaesthesia, Perioperative Coagulation Management.
BACKGROUND
Dr Fanshawe graduated from the University of Queensland in 1992 with First Class Honours. He completed his anaesthetic training with the Australian and New Zealand College of Anaesthetists in 2000. In 2001 he completed a fellowship in Cardiac Anaesthesiology at the world renowned Mount Sinaii Hospital in New York City. Dr Fanshawe is Board certified with the United States Board of Echocardiography in trans-oesophageal echocardiography.
Dr Fanshawe has a keen interest in perioperative coagulation management and techniques which spare patients from the need for blood transfusion or blood products. He also has a particular interest in cardio-thoracic anaesthesia and maintains a busy workload in this area.
Professionally Dr Fanshawe has previously held the roles of Head of Anaesthesia at Greenslopes Private Hospital and Chairman of the Cardiovascular Thoracic and Perfusion SIG of the Australian and New Zealand College of Anaesthetists. Currently Michael is Head of Cardiac Anaesthesia at Greenslopes Private Hospital and Chairman of the Greenslopes Private Hospital Medical Advisory Committee.
