BACKGROUND
Dr Concha Blamey is a specialist anaesthetist with an interest in neuroanaesthesia, anaesthesia for interventional neuroradiology, perioperative medicine, and quality improvement and safety in healthcare. Dr Concha Blamey graduated from the University of Queensland with a Bachelor of Science in 2005 and a Bachelor of Medicine and Surgery in 2009. She commenced her specialist anaesthetic training in 2012, she then went on to complete a Fellowship in Neuroanaesthesia and Trauma at the Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital (RBWH) and was admitted as a Fellow of the Australian and New Zealand College of Anaesthetists (FANZCA) in 2017. She completed a Master of Medicine in the field of Perioperative Medicine through Monash University in 2016 and was awarded the Graduate of the Chapter of Perioperative Medicine (GChPOM) via the recognition pathway in early 2024.

At the beginning of 2018 Dr Concha Blamey concluded a 12-month Neuroanaesthesia and Neurocritical Care Fellowship at the National Hospital for Neurology and Neurosurgery in London and returned to work as a Staff Specialist within the Department of Anaesthesia and Perioperative Medicine at the RBWH. Dr Concha Blamey is a current Australian and New Zealand Tripartite Anaesthetic Data Committee (ANZTADC) analyser. She maintains an active interest in perioperative medicine, anaesthesia for deep brain stimulation and interventional neuroradiology procedures, and is a Supervisor for the Neurosurgery and Neuroradiology Specialised Study unit of the ANZCA training program. Dr Concha Blamey is involved in educating Junior Doctors with a particular interest in Patient Blood Management. She aims to deliver up to date and safe anaesthetic care to all her patients.

Outside of medicine, Dr Concha Blamey enjoys cooking, scuba diving, fishing, and travelling.
