BACKGROUND
Dr Skeggs completed his undergraduate studies at Monash University and the University of Queensland in 2005. He trained for several years in paediatric intensive care before commencing anaesthetic training. He completed his subspecialty anaesthetic training in cardiac anaesthesia, perioperative transoesophageal echocardiography and medical perfusion at the Princess Alexandra Hospital in Brisbane.
He is currently a Staff Specialist Anaesthetist and Medical Perfusionist at the Princess Alexandra Hospital where he is also the Supervisor of Training for thoracic anaesthesia. He is also a Visiting Specialist Aneasthetist and Medical Perfusionist at the Gold Coast University Hospital.
Dr Skeggs is a member of the Critical Care Research Group based at The Prince Charles Hospital where he provides perfusion services for cardiac and thoracic surgical research.
OTHER INTERESTS
Outside of anaesthesia Dr Skeggs enjoys spending time with his young children, playing piano and guitar, running and general aerobic and fitness training and all forms of motor racing.
