BACKGROUND
Dr Fung completed his Bachelor of Surgery/Bachelor of Medicine at the University of Queensland in 2004 and began working in Anaesthesia in 2006. During his training he was fortunate to be able to travel throughout the state, gaining invaluable experience working in a variety of hospital settings from tertiary referral hospitals to rural and remote settings. He completed his training in Anaesthesia at the Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital (RBWH), including a fellowship in Regional Anaesthesia. Since then, he has worked both as a staff specialist at the RBWH, as well as in private practice. His practice includes a wide range of Anaesthesia for most surgical specialties including neurosurgery, opthalmology, gastroenterology, upper gastro-intestinal surgery, obstetrics and orthopaedics.
Dr Fung is a firm believer in patient centred healthcare and aims to ensure that everyone who comes under his care is informed and consulted throughout the pre-operative and post-operative experience to provide an individualised, tailored approach to his practice.
Dr Fung is involved in education in anaesthesia not only for medical students and trainees, but has also presented and facilitated at workshops aimed at promoting and improving skills and abilities in ultrasound guided regional anaesthesia to fellow specialist anaesthetists.
OTHER INTERESTS
Having grown up in North Queensland, Dr Fung maintains a connection with rural and remote medicine, however since settling in Brisbane he spends most of his spare time with his two young children. He also has a strong interest in information technology and its integration in the health care setting.
