Anaesthesia for General, Orthopaedic, Obstetric and Bariatric Surgery, Ultrasound-Guided Regional Anaesthesia and Perioperative Blood Management

BACKGROUND
Dr Lee was born and bred in Brisbane and completed her undergraduate medical training at the University of Queensland in 2008. She began working in anaesthesia in 2010, and completed her specialist anaesthetic training in both Brisbane and regional centres. She then went on to complete her Fellowship of the Australian and New Zealand College of Anaesthetists (FANZCA) in 2015 with fellowships in regional anaesthesia, bariatric anaesthesia and research. Dr Lee is a Senior Staff Specialist at The Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital (RBWH) where she has an active role in education, quality improvement and research into improving patient care and outcomes.

Dr Lee is a Senior Lecturer at the Faculty of Medicine for The University of Queensland. In 2021, she was awarded her Doctorate of Philosophy in obstetric anaesthesia and perioperative blood management and has published widely on this topic. She has been an invited speaker and workshop facilitator at local, national and international conferences in her research areas of interest in airway management, ultrasound-guided regional anaesthesia, obstetric anaesthesia and perioperative blood management. She is a working party member for the Queensland Clinical Guidelines for Primary Postpartum Haemorrhage, RBWH Massive Haemorrhage Protocol and Queensland Health Intrapartum Pain Management Guidelines. With the recent COVID-19 pandemic, she was a member of the Australian Society of Anaesthetists (ASA) COVID-19 Working Group to help develop resources for colleagues nationwide to strive for pandemic preparedness. As a committee member of the national ASA Council, and performing in the role of the Queensland Representative and National Chair of the ASA Public Practice Advisory Committee until 2021, she contributed to the advocacy of her profession and convened several successful events for directors of anaesthetic departments across Australia.

Dr Lee’s practice includes a wide range of anaesthesia for most surgical specialties including ophthalmic, ENT, maxillofacial, colorectal, spinal, breast and endocrine, obstetrics and gynaecology, plastics, gastroenterology, bariatrics, pain management, burns and trauma surgery. She is dedicated to providing tailored, expert and quality anaesthetic care.

OTHER INTERESTS
Outside of medicine, Dr Lee enjoys spending time with her family, playing the piano, cycling, cooking, bushwalking and travelling.
