Dr Michael Bishop

SPECIAL INTERESTS IN ANAESTHESIA
Neuroanaesthesia, Spine Surgery, Interventional Neuroradiology.

BACKGROUND
Dr Bishop graduated from the University of Queensland with a Bachelor of Medicine and Surgery in 2003. He then commenced his specialist anaesthetic training in 2006. Dr Bishop has a special interest in Neuroanaesthesia and subsequently underwent further training and completed a Neuroanaesthesia Fellowship in the United Kingdom. In 2011, he was admitted as a Fellow of the Australian and New Zealand College of Anaesthetists (FANZCA).

Dr Bishop is passionate about training and education and is actively involved in his role as Supervisor of Training at Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital (RBWH). He has also served as an examiner for the Australian and New Zealand College of Anaesthetists since 2014.

Dr Bishop works both publicly as a Senior Staff Specialist at Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital (RBWH) and privately throughout several private hospitals in Brisbane.

OTHER INTERESTS
Outside of medicine, Dr Bishop is a keen cyclist and is a coffee connoisseur. In his past life, he sang and studied opera.
