Medical education, Regional Anaesthesia, Obstetric and Gynaecological Surgery, Ophthalmic, Orthopaedic, Maxillofacial and General Surgeries.
BACKGROUND
Dr Tavakol completed his undergraduate medical degree at the Flinders University, South Australia in 1992. He began anaesthetic training at The Mater and Princess Alexandra Hospitals in 1995 and completed his specialist training by achieving Fellowship of Australian and New Zealand College of Anaesthetists (FANZCA) in 2001. Dr Tavakol has been supported by Wickham Terrace Anaesthesia since 2002. Dr Tavakol previouslyinitially working both in private and public practice at The Princess Alexandra and Logan Hospitals. In 2006, Dr Tavakol transitioned solely into private practice.
Dr Tavakol has been actively involved in teaching anaesthetic registrars and medical students over the years. From 2001 – 2013 he lectured for the Primary Short Course for Anaesthetic Registrars. He has been a member of the Brisbane Private Hospital Anaesthetic and Perioperative Committee from 2006 and was the Chairman for 2014 – 2017.
He is currently appointed as a Senior Lecturer and Clinical Tutor for the Queensland University Medical School teaching medical students at The Wesley and North West Private Hospitals. Dr Tavakol served as the Education Officer and then Secretary of Wickham Terrace Anaesthesia’s Executive Committee for a number of years.
Dr Tavakol volunteers in Rotary and Wesley Hospitals’ Voluntary Humanitarian Operations.
OTHER INTERESTS
In his spare time, Dr Tavakol enjoys spending time with family, rowing, football (soccer) and travel.
